Best Places To Work in Central Illinois

Springfield Business Journal is proud to join with United Community Bank in establishing the "Best Places to Work" in central Illinois program. Best Places to Work acknowledges three companies or organizations in central Illinois who are dedicated to their employees' growth and a quality workplace.

The Best Places to Work program is open to all organizations: public, private and not-for-profit located in central Illinois with 35 employees or more. The selection process involves careful review of each nomination of each company for employee compensation, benefits and people practices. Each of the selected companies distinguished themselves for being dedicated to their employees in one form or another.

Women of Influence

Security Bank is proud to partner with Springfield Business Journal for the fourth annual "Women of Influence" recognition program. Women of Influence honors local women for their contributions to the Springfield area community. Selected by their peers through submitted nominations, all have made important contributions to the community at large.

Nominations were not limited to the business community for this program. The area's reputation as an exemplary place to live, work and raise a family is dependent upon the day-to-day hard work and long-range foresight of each and every one of us. These women are significant for their valuable contributions in making Springfield the outstanding community that it is.

Forty Under 40

The Springfield Business Journal proudly features 40 leaders who are under the age of 40 in the Springfield and neighboring business communities. These individuals are selected based on their contributions to our local business community and the community in which they have chosen to reside. They represent, in part, the future of business in our community and in central Illinois. They have the ability and dedication to change and to preserve the face of our community landscape.

The selectees' career paths, educational background and community affiliations are varied. They represent the best and brightest from a wide range of occupations. You can expect to hear more from and about these leaders in the years ahead. The program was established and is able to continue due to the commitment of local businesses that realize the importance of acknowledging these 40 individuals and supporting community business programs.

15 Under Fifteen

Initiated in 2003, 15 Under Fifteen is an awards program recognizing local small businesses. The program is defined by its title. To be eligible for recognition, the business must employ fewer than 15 employees (and have been in business for more than two years). The selection process allows for 15 businesses to be named annually.

In addition to the 15 small businesses receiving awards, an additional four categories were established to provide special recognition for individual effort: Business Ethics, Business Ethics Not-For-Profit, Business Mentor and Business Lifetime Achievement. Celebrating the success of local businesses plays an important role in sending a message regionally and statewide that the Springfield-metropolitan area is a great place to do business!
